Strive, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASST) disclosed on August 17, 2026 that it bought 79 bitcoin between August 10 and August 14 for roughly $63,231 per coin. The purchase lifted the Dallas-based asset manager’s total holdings to 20,246 BTC.

Key Takeaways

  • Strive purchased 79 bitcoin between August 10 and August 14, 2026, at an average price of about $63,231 per coin including fees.
  • Total Bitcoin holdings rose to 20,246 BTC, up from 20,167 BTC a week earlier, according to the company’s SEC filing.
  • Cash and cash equivalents slipped to $154.8 million, a decline of $100,000 from the prior week.
  • Class A common shares outstanding grew by 597,150 shares during the same one-week reporting period.
  • The new average purchase price of $63,231 per coin came in below the $65,723 average Strive paid for a similar 79 BTC buy in July.

What Happened?

Strive filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 17, 2026, covering the reporting week of August 7 through August 14. The filing shows the company added 79 bitcoin at an average price of $63,231 per coin, inclusive of fees and expenses, lifting total holdings from 20,167 BTC to 20,246 BTC.

Cash and cash equivalents slipped from $154.9 million to $154.8 million over the same week, a decline of $100,000. The company’s holding of Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock issued by Strategy Inc. (formerly MicroStrategy), known as STRC, stayed flat at 505,000 shares, though its fair value edged down from $47.98 million to $47.864 million.

Class A common stock outstanding climbed from 75,647,438 shares to 76,244,588 shares, an increase of 597,150 shares. Class B shares, options, unvested employee awards and warrant-linked shares all held steady, and the company’s SATA preferred stock count stayed at 7,829,502 shares.

A Familiar Buying Pattern

Strive’s disclosed purchases this summer show a mid-June acquisition of 759 BTC for about $50 million, a smaller 21 BTC lot in mid-July, and a 79 BTC purchase between July 20 and July 24 at an average price of $65,723 per coin. That July purchase, separate from the newly disclosed August lot, pushed the company’s holdings to roughly 20,000 BTC at the time.

The newly disclosed average price came in lower than July’s $65,723 average for a purchase of the identical 79-coin size. Strive tracks its Bitcoin-per-share ratio as the preferred performance benchmark for these purchases, a metric it has emphasized since a September 2025 all stock merger with Semler Scientific, Inc.

That deal added thousands of bitcoin to Strive’s balance sheet in a single transaction and remade the asset manager, which reports nearly $3 billion in total assets under management, into what Strive describes as the first publicly traded asset management company built around a Bitcoin treasury strategy. The company has also issued SATA preferred stock, which pays daily dividends, to help fund the buildout.

Where Strive Ranks Among Corporate Holders?

Estimates published before the August 17 filing placed Strive’s ranking among corporate Bitcoin holders at 7th to 12th place globally, based on a holdings range of 19,999 to 20,167 BTC. Strategy Inc. temporarily paused new Bitcoin purchases to build a $2.19 billion cash reserve earlier this year, prioritizing liquidity over accumulation.

The Bottom Line

The August purchase confirms Strive is sticking to a disclosed, incremental accumulation strategy instead of large lump-sum buys, tracking its Bitcoin-per-share ratio purchase by purchase. With cash reserves holding near $154.8 million after the latest buy, the reporting period’s balance alone suggests the firm retains some capacity for further additions without an immediate capital raise.

The share count increase disclosed in the same filing indicates that at least part of Strive’s buying capacity comes from ongoing equity issuance rather than cash reserves alone, a financing approach shared by several publicly traded Bitcoin treasury companies. Investors evaluating Strive’s stock take on exposure to both the price of Bitcoin and the terms under which the company continues to issue new shares to fund its purchases.
