MoneyGram said Tuesday that MoneyGram Ramps, its fiat on and off ramp, is live on Solana, giving wallets, exchanges and developers on the chain a route into its retail cash network. Rift, an AI-powered trading platform, is the first Solana wallet to integrate it.
The reach is lopsided. Ramps supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and cash withdrawals in more than 170 countries and territories, the company said. Getting out of crypto and into local currency covers far more of the map than getting in.
That asymmetry matches what MoneyGram is actually selling. The company serves roughly 60 million active customers through hundreds of thousands of retail locations, and the scarce asset in a stablecoin economy is a counter where somebody hands you notes. Solana wallets can now rent that counter through a single API instead of building bank and payout relationships country by country.

The chain is starting to look interchangeable
MoneyGram has been stacking these connections for four years. It launched a USDC cash ramp with the Stellar Development Foundation in 2022, issued its own dollar-backed stablecoin MGUSD on Stellar in June through Bridge, the Stripe-owned issuer, became a Solana validator the same month, and turned up on the partner list for Open USD, the Stripe-led stablecoin consortium.
Read together, those moves point one way. MoneyGram is outsourcing token issuance to Stripe’s infrastructure and keeping the cash layer for itself, which is the part crypto remittance flows still depend on and the hardest part to build from scratch. Western Union has been chasing the same position with its own stablecoin work.
“The future of payments is built on access,” Anthony Soohoo, MoneyGram’s chairman and CEO, said in the announcement. “Every platform we connect expands the reach of our network. Every customer we serve makes that network more valuable.” Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, framed the integration as a way for developers to build financial applications with real-world utility at global scale.
What the announcement leaves open?
The release does not say which Solana assets or stablecoins Ramps supports, or what the ramp costs a user. It also does not break out how many of the payout markets are live today. And it names exactly one wallet, so a second integration is the real test.
If you already hold crypto on Solana and want a cash exit, the practical check today is whether your wallet has integrated Ramps at all, because the connection sits at the wallet level. Developers can request sandbox credentials through MoneyGram’s partner registration page.
