Logan Paul’s once $635,000 NFT is now worth just $155, while his rare Pikachu Illustrator card has sold for a record breaking $16.5 million.

Key Takeaways

  • Logan Paul’s yellow armored 0N1 Force NFT dropped nearly 99 percent in value from $635,000 in 2021 to about $155 today.
  • His PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator card sold for $16,492,000 at Goldin, setting a Guinness World Record.
  • The NFT market remains under pressure, with major collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks seeing steep declines.
  • The buyer of the Pikachu card was AJ Scaramucci of Solari Capital.

What Happened?

Logan Paul experienced two dramatically different outcomes in the collectibles market. His high profile NFT investment has nearly collapsed in value, while his rare Pokémon card achieved one of the highest prices ever paid for a trading card.

The contrast highlights ongoing volatility in NFTs and growing demand for rare physical collectibles.

Logan Paul’s NFT Loses Nearly All Its Value

During the 2021 crypto bull run, Logan Paul purchased a yellow armored 0N1 Force NFT for approximately $635,000. At the time, NFTs were booming, with collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, Hashmasks, and Axie Infinity reaching massive valuations.

Today, that same NFT is reportedly valued at just $155, marking a drop of about 99 percent. The broader NFT sector has struggled since the 2021 peak, with declining floor prices and reduced trading volumes. On chain analytics suggest further pressure may come if Ethereum prices continue to weaken, as NFT valuations often move alongside the broader crypto market.

Despite the downturn, Paul still holds some NFTs, even as the market remains uncertain.

Pikachu Illustrator Sets $16.5 Million Record

While his NFT investment suffered, Paul’s rare Pikachu Illustrator card delivered a historic return.

The PSA 10 graded card sold for $16,492,000 at auction house Goldin after 97 bids. The final hammer price was $13.3 million, with a 22 percent buyer’s premium bringing the total to over $16 million. A Guinness World Records adjudicator certified it as the highest price ever paid for a trading card at auction.

Ken Goldin, founder and CEO of Goldin said:

“

This is an historic night for not only the Pokémon community, it is an historic night for the entire collectible community. We just keep showing there are no barriers. These key things that we all love and appreciate keep going up, keep setting records, and keep bringing people together.

Ken GoldinFounder and CEO – Goldin

The card had previously been valued at just over $5 million in 2021. Paul originally purchased it for about $5.2 million, meaning the sale more than tripled its earlier valuation.

The winning bidder was AJ Scaramucci of Solari Capital. He appeared on Paul’s livestream to accept the card and announced plans to start what he described as a planetary treasure hunt. Paul said:

“

This right here is what makes collecting so special this hobby is unbelievably fun. I love the community aspect of it, getting to meet other collectors and connect over our shared passion. It has been amazing working on this with my friend Ken Goldin, who has changed Pokémon forever in such a great way.

Auction Event Draws Massive Attention

The sale gained additional exposure through Netflix’s King of Collectibles The Goldin Touch, where the card was featured. Ahead of the auction close, Paul and Goldin hosted a first edition Pokémon box break livestream, attended by a Guinness representative and prior Goldin auction winners.

The broader auction included more than 300 lots, signaling strong demand across the trading card market. Notable sales included:

  • A 1999 Pokémon Base Set 1st Edition Holo Charizard graded PSA 10 for $954,808
  • A 1996 Japanese Base Set holo uncut sheet for $613,801
  • A factory sealed 1st Edition booster box for $496,000

Goldin is set to launch its Pokémon 151 auction on Feb. 20, timed to the game’s 30th anniversary.

CoinLaw’s Takeaway

In my experience, this story perfectly shows the difference between speculative digital hype and true rarity driven collectibles. NFTs exploded in 2021, but many lacked long term demand. Meanwhile, a genuinely rare item with history and narrative like the Pikachu Illustrator continues to attract serious capital.

I found the contrast striking. A digital asset drops to nearly nothing while a piece of collectible history triples in value. For investors, it is a reminder that scarcity, authenticity, and cultural importance still matter far more than hype cycles.
