Aave, the decentralized lending protocol, opened an Equities Hub on Aave V4 on Base on September 25, 2026, letting eligible users outside the U.S. borrow USDC against seven Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) tokenized stocks.
The Brief
- Aave’s Equities Hub accepts tokenized Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla shares as collateral for USDC loans.

Seven stocks draw on one USDC reserve
Holders can deposit AAPLc, AMZNc, GOOGLc, METAc, MSFTc, NVDAc and TSLAc into the hub and borrow USDC. Aave said its Hub and Spoke architecture pools the seven equities into one market with a single USDC reserve. Each stock keeps its own risk parameters, so a user can pledge several names without Aave building a separate USDC market for each one.
Lending runs one way at launch. Users can’t borrow the stocks themselves, and they can’t open positions that borrow one tokenized equity against another. That keeps the hub’s exposure simple: stock goes in, USDC comes out, and USDC is the only loan asset Aave has to manage.
LlamaRisk also set a $32 million USDC supply cap, with collateral factors running from 65% to 79% depending on the stock. Those limits are small next to Aave’s own totals. The protocol says it has processed more than $3.6 trillion in cumulative deposits and over $1 trillion in loans. The sizing reads as a controlled test of equity collateral on Aave, with room to widen once the market has a track record.

The token design explains why lenders can accept these assets at all. Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd. issues the tokens, and Alpaca Securities LLC holds the underlying shares in segregated custody accounts. Coinbase says that gives holders exposure to actual equities instead of a synthetic instrument that merely tracks prices. Coinbase’s tokens join a category that includes Robinhood’s EU tokenized stocks, and Aave gives them a lending use beyond holding and trading.
Dividends take a different route from a brokerage account. Cash distributions buy additional underlying shares after fees and withholding taxes, while an onchain multiplier reflects splits and other corporate actions. The result is a total-return token. A borrower who pledges NVDAc keeps that exposure while drawing USDC; raising the same cash would otherwise mean selling the position.
Friday’s launch meets a weekend price freeze
Timing is the first stress point. Aave runs around the clock, yet Chainlink’s tokenized equity feeds publish from Sunday 20:00 ET to Friday 20:00 ET, according to Aave’s launch post. Over weekends and U.S. market holidays the last price holds. Users can still borrow, repay or withdraw in those windows, though collateral values won’t reflect off-market news until pricing resumes.
Corporate actions create a second pause point. Aave may pause a reserve during events such as a stock split until the new token multiplier takes effect.
Borrowers already in the hub can check the collateral factor on each stock they’ve pledged. News that breaks after the Friday cutoff only reaches collateral values once the feeds restart. Aave’s post leaves two details open: which countries qualify as eligible, and which stock sits at which end of the collateral range.
The Bottom Line
Expansion is already on the table. “More Coinbase Tokenized Stocks are expected to be supported on Aave V4 on Base over time, along with GHO as a borrowable asset,” Aave said. GHO is Aave’s native stablecoin, and both steps remain subject to Aave DAO governance and risk approval.
The nearer checkpoint is the clock, and it arrives within hours of launch. The hub’s first weekend freeze starts at 20:00 ET on Friday, and Chainlink’s feeds come back Sunday at the same hour.
