Grayscale announced on September 18, 2026, that its Zcash ETF (NYSE Arca: ZCSH) intends to effect a 3-for-1 forward share split. The fund’s total shareholder value will not change.

Grayscale, which describes itself as the world’s largest digital asset-focused investment platform, disclosed the 3-for-1 split in a press release the same day. Holders of record on the Record Date will receive two additional shares for every one they already hold, distributed on the Payment Date. The fund keeps trading on NYSE Arca under “ZCSH” throughout the change.
The mechanics are arithmetic, not economic. Grayscale’s own illustration shows a hypothetical holder of 10 pre-split shares at a $300 NAV per share, worth $3,000 total. That same holder ends up with 30 post-split shares at a $100 NAV per share, still worth $3,000.
The share count triples. The per-share price compresses by the same ratio. Nothing about the fund’s underlying Zcash exposure changes.

A retail-friendlier quote, not a new investment case
Cutting ZCSH’s NAV per share to roughly one-third of its prior level is a cosmetic move. It targets the ticker’s headline price, not its fundamentals. A lower quoted price makes the fund easier to buy in round lots.
That same ratio math compresses the quoted price. On a broker screen, the ticker’s headline number lands in a lower band. It does not change the fund’s holdings, its fee structure, or its exposure to Zcash’s price.
Crypto ETFs built around a single privacy-focused asset like Zcash remain a small corner of the fund market. Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum products still dominate it.
The release gives no reason for the timing beyond the mechanical schedule itself. What is fixed is a three-day sequence. It runs from the record date through the effective date. The new share count and the expected lower quoted price take effect on the tape prior to market open on September 30, 2026.
