# Pendle Targets $2 Billion Idle USDG Pile on X Layer

## The Brief

- Pendle opened its first USDG yield market on X Layer, the Layer 2 network run by OKX.
- X Layer holds $2.07 billion in stablecoins and 94.11% of that is USDG. Every DeFi protocol on the chain combined holds $116.27 million.
- OKX already pays up to 3.85% APY on idle USDG, so any fixed rate arrives with a public number to beat.

Pendle Finance opened its first fixed-rate market for **USDG on X Layer** on Tuesday, the yield trading platform said in its launch announcement. The market gives OKX’s Layer 2 network a venue aimed at a stablecoin balance that has mostly sat still.

The gap is the story. **OKX Wallet put X Layer’s stablecoin supply at $2.07 billion** on August 6, with USDG accounting for **94.11%** of it. Value locked across every DeFi protocol on the chain came to **$116.27 million**. Roughly $17 sits parked for every $1 working inside the network’s lending and trading markets.

Pendle splits a yield-bearing asset in two. Principal Tokens settle at face value on the maturity date, so the buyer knows the return at purchase. Yield Tokens take the floating side and pay off only when the realized rate beats what the market priced in.

Both sides arrive with a visible benchmark, which is unusual. OKX pays [up to 3.85% APY](https://web3.okx.com/learn/usdg-xlayer) on USDG held on X Layer through its wallet rewards program, a rate that excludes customers in the US, UK, EEA, Brazil, Australia, UAE, Turkey and Singapore. Anyone already parked there for that reward can weigh the PT discount against the reward they give up by moving, check whether the exclusions cover them, and see where 3.85% lands in the [broader stablecoin yield range](https://coinlaw.io/stablecoin-yields/).

One widely repeated detail about the chain is out of date. X Layer is no longer the **Polygon CDK zkEVM it launched as**. OKX migrated it to the OP Stack, [Optimism](https://coinlaw.io/optimism-statistics/) confirmed in December. **L2BEAT** lists the network with a single whitelisted proposer and challenger and no delay on contract upgrades.

The Aave leg is not live either. Aave’s Global Dollar Hub, opened on Ethereum this summer, takes [PT-USDG-24SEP2026](https://governance.aave.com/t/arfc-onboard-pt-usdg-24sep2026-to-aave-v4-on-ethereum/24942) as collateral under V4. On X Layer, Aave runs V3.6 and is the chain’s [largest protocol](https://coinlaw.io/aave-statistics/) at $85.34 million. An October maturity is a separate asset requiring its own governance onboarding, so PT-USDG collateral there remains a proposal.

Pendle has not published the incentive size, the exact maturity date, the LP reward schedule, or whether USDG deposited into its pools keeps accruing the OKX reward. Those four gaps decide whether the market clears.

Pendle carries **$1.179 billion across 12 chains, 58.1% of it on Ethereum**. X Layer makes 13, and it has not registered on DefiLlama yet. Maturity is weeks out. Circle ran a version of this test when it [replaced bridged USDC with the native token](https://coinlaw.io/circle-usdc-cctp-x-layer/) on the same chain.
