## What Happened?

MoonPay has launched **MoonPay Trade**, a new technology platform built to help institutions access tokenized assets, stablecoins, and DeFi markets through one integration.

The launch follows MoonPay’s acquisition of **Decent.xyz**, whose routing engine, bridge systems, and liquidity aggregation tools now power the new platform.

 ## MoonPay Builds a Single Gateway for Onchain Markets

MoonPay said MoonPay Trade gives banks, fintech companies, asset managers, enterprises, and applications a single API to move value across more than **200 blockchains and protocols**.

The platform supports major networks including **Ethereum, [Solana](https://coinlaw.io/solana-statistics/), Base, Bitcoin, and Hyperliquid**. It also supports conversion and settlement in more than **120 fiat currencies**, helping firms connect traditional payment rails with blockchain based markets.

MoonPay said the product is designed to reduce the complexity of fragmented onchain liquidity. Instead of building separate connections to different chains, venues, and [DeFi protocols](https://coinlaw.io/defi-lending-protocols-statistics/), institutions can use MoonPay Trade to handle execution, settlement, conversion, payments, and asset movement from one place.

## Decent Acquisition Powers MoonPay Trade

MoonPay Trade is powered by the technology and team from **Decent.xyz**, a Y Combinator backed cross chain routing company founded in 2021.

Decent built proprietary bridge infrastructure, routing algorithms, and an aggregation layer that helps users move assets and access markets across blockchains. MoonPay said Decent’s tools now support institutional use cases such as stablecoin trading systems, vault integrations, tokenized fund distribution, and onchain subscriptions and redemptions.

The acquisition was described as a **high eight figure deal**. It adds to MoonPay’s recent buying spree as the company expands beyond crypto payments. Over the past 18 months, MoonPay has made more than six acquisitions across payments, stablecoins, custody, and trade execution.

## MoonPay Institutional Gets Its Execution Layer

MoonPay Trade will serve as the execution layer for **MoonPay Institutional**, the company’s regulated financial services unit led by former acting CFTC Chair **Caroline D. Pham**.

Pham said:

“

Every major financial institution is building a tokenized asset strategy. MoonPay Trade is the execution layer that MoonPay Institutional is built on, giving firms one technology platform to access onchain markets with full compliance.

MoonPay CEO and co-founder Ivan Soto Wright also said institutions are now tokenizing funds, moving collateral across chains, and settling in many currencies.

Soto Wright said:

“

The market is here. MoonPay Trade brings all of that together in one platform for any institution, enterprise, or application.

## DeFi and Tokenized Assets Drive Demand

MoonPay is launching the platform as tokenized real world assets continue to grow. The company said [tokenized assets](https://coinlaw.io/asset-tokenization-statistics/) have surpassed **25 billion dollars** in onchain value, up from under **2 billion dollars** three years ago.

Another report cited RWA.xyz data showing tokenized real world assets at **33.78 billion dollars** in trading volume. Major firms including **BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and [JPMorgan](https://coinlaw.io/jpmorgan-chase-statistics/)** have already moved into tokenized products.

MoonPay Trade also connects with DeFi protocols such as **[Aave](https://coinlaw.io/aave-statistics/), Morpho, and Maple Finance**, allowing institutions to lend, borrow, earn yield, and use tokenized assets or stablecoins directly onchain.

## CoinLaw’s Takeaway

I found MoonPay’s move important because it shows how quickly crypto companies are shifting from simple payment tools to full financial infrastructure. In my experience, institutions do not want ten different tools for ten different chains. They want one trusted system that handles compliance, liquidity, settlement, and execution in one place.

That is why **MoonPay Trade** could matter. Tokenization is no longer just a crypto trend. It is becoming a serious financial market, and companies that make access easier may have a major advantage.
