Cryptocurrency ‘Delivery’ definition still in the works

October 9, 2017 by Bertrand Theaud

Due to the intricacies of cryptographic key management the definition of when a cryptocurrency can be considered “delivered” is yet to be established by the U.S. Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

According to the CFTC Commissioner Brian Quintenz the agency’s officials are “working very hard to provide a suitable response to that question.”

It was more than two years ago that the agency first announced its intention to oversee the trade of crypto coins as commodities.
