# Charles Schwab Expands Crypto Lineup With Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink

Charles Schwab (NYSE: SCHW) said on 27th August, 2026 that Schwab Crypto clients will be able to buy and sell Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink in the coming months. The platform currently offers direct trading in Bitcoin and Ethereum only.

## The Big Picture

- Charles Schwab plans to add Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) to the Schwab Crypto platform in the coming months.
- Schwab Crypto began rolling out to clients in May 2026 with direct access to Bitcoin and Ethereum trading.
- Schwab charges 75 basis points on the dollar value of each trade, a rate the firm calls among the lowest in the industry.
- Clients can view and trade crypto next to traditional investments on Schwab.com, Schwab Mobile, and thinkorswim.
- Schwab says it will keep adding cryptocurrencies and digital assets to the platform over time.

## Schwab moves past Bitcoin and Ethereum

The expansion adds two smart contract blockchain tokens and one oracle network token to a lineup that has been limited to **Bitcoin and Ethereum** since the [Schwab Crypto rollout](https://coinlaw.io/charles-schwab-crypto-trading-launch/) started. Schwab described the picks as “**established cryptocurrencies that align with client demand**” in the [release](https://pressroom.aboutschwab.com/press-releases/press-release/2026/Charles-Schwab-Announces-Plans-to-Expand-Digital-Assets-Available-in-Schwab-Crypto-Accounts/default.aspx), which gave no firm launch date for the three tokens beyond “**the coming months**.”

**Joe Vietri**, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab said:

“

With this expansion, clients will have more choices to build a digital asset allocation alongside the investing and banking experience they know and trust at Schwab.

Vietri framed the additions as consistent with the firm’s approach of offering “**familiar cryptocurrencies backed by an ecosystem of education, tools, resources, and support,**” a phrase that points to selective listings instead of a long menu.

## What the platform bundles with the trade?

Schwab Crypto pairs the trading function with the firm’s existing service layer. The release lists four components: digital assets education from the **Schwab Center for Financial Research** and crypto-focused Schwab Coaching content, side-by-side viewing of crypto and traditional holdings across the firm’s web, mobile, and thinkorswim platforms, 24/7 phone and chat support from tenured service professionals, and pricing of 75 basis points on the dollar value of each trade.

A flat percentage fee shows the client what each trade costs before it executes, which separates Schwab from the spread-based pricing many retail crypto apps use, where the cost sits inside the quoted price. It also means the fee scales with trade size; a large purchase pays proportionally more than a small one.

## What the release leaves open?

Schwab hasn’t said which month the three tokens will go live, whether the rollout that began in May has reached every eligible client, or whether staking, transfers to outside wallets, or other services will accompany the new listings.

For clients already using [Schwab Crypto](https://coinlaw.io/charles-schwab-statistics/), the immediate points to confirm are whether their account has been enabled for the platform and how the per-trade fee applies to the order sizes they typically place. Schwab points to its education materials and coaching content as the resources for that kind of review.

## CoinLaw’s Takeaway

This expansion reads as the second step in a deliberate sequence: launch with Bitcoin and Ethereum, then add tokens the firm calls established once the operational plumbing has run for a few months. **Solana**, **[Avalanche](https://coinlaw.io/avalanche-avax-statistics/)**, and **Chainlink** each have years of trading history, which fits Schwab’s stated preference for “**familiar**” assets over new or speculative ones. The clients who gain the most are those who already hold these tokens elsewhere and would rather see them in one statement next to their equities and cash, which is the convenience case Vietri’s statement makes.

The broader significance lies in what a mainstream brokerage’s asset list says about the market. A token that clears Schwab’s selection process gains a distribution channel that crypto native exchanges can’t offer: the firm’s existing client base and its 24/7 service desk. How much that channel matters for these three tokens depends on how quickly the rollout reaches the full client base and how Schwab’s fee compares with what those clients pay today, and the release answers neither question.
