Canada’s Finance Minister promises to regulated cryptos

In the latest federal budget document, the finance minister of Canada Jim Flaherty, mentioned bitcoin and promised more regulations of cryptocurrencies.

Flaherty stated that it’s important to improve Canada’s regulations in order to address emerging risks associated with virtual currencies “that threaten Canada’s international leadership in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.”  And promised “anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regulations for virtual currencies.”
