# Blockchain.com and NYSE Sign MOU to Offer Tokenized Stocks

Blockchain.com and NYSE Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 23rd September, 2026 that would open tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to Blockchain.com users. Access would run through the NYSE’s planned digital alternative trading system (ATS), which has not launched and still needs regulatory approval.

## The Brief

- Blockchain.com and NYSE Group signed an MOU for a plan to distribute tokenized U.S. exchange-listed equities and ETFs to Blockchain.com customers.
- The plan stays “subject to any required regulatory approvals,” and the NYSE digital ATS has not opened for trading yet.
- ICE Data Services, an NYSE affiliate, plans to distribute Blockchain.com’s crypto market data and analytics to its subscribing clients.
- Blockchain.com plans to add ICE and NYSE exchange data feeds to its app, which counts more than 44 million confirmed accounts.

## The NYSE gets a crypto-native storefront

The companies framed the MOU as a distribution plan. In the [joint announcement](https://www.prnewswire.com/apac/news-releases/blockchaincom-and-nyse-partner-to-explore-global-247365-trading-of-tokenized-securities-302887088.html), they said the collaboration “**seeks to broaden the NYSE’s access to crypto-native investors through Blockchain.com’s global customer base.**“

Blockchain.com, a crypto services company founded in 2011, says it has supported more than **95 million** wallets and over $1.1 trillion in crypto transactions. It operates in more than 70 jurisdictions, offering self-custody alongside institutional services.

**Peter Smith**, Blockchain.com’s executive chairman, CEO and co-founder, pitched the deal as a way around geography.

“

People shouldn’t be limited in owning stocks based on where they happen to live or the brokerage and information they may or may not have access to.

**Lynn Martin**, president of NYSE Group, said Blockchain.com’s international footprint suits the NYSE’s tokenized securities platform once it goes live.

Market data moves in both directions under the MOU. ICE Data Services plans to give its subscribers Blockchain.com’s crypto data and analytics, pitching it as intelligence for traditional investors weighing digital assets. Blockchain.com, for its part, plans to embed certain ICE and NYSE feeds so its app shows real-time stock information. The release ties the stock access to regulatory approvals but attaches no such condition to the data exchange.

## Distribution joins the NYSE tokenization stack

**Intercontinental Exchange**, the NYSE’s parent company, [unveiled the platform in January](https://ir.theice.com/press/news-details/2026/The-New-York-Stock-Exchange-Develops-Tokenized-Securities-Platform/default.aspx). The design pairs the NYSE’s Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based post-trade systems. ICE listed 24/7 trading of U.S. listed equities and ETFs, fractional shares, dollar-sized orders and stablecoin-based funding among the planned features. ICE also said it is working with BNY and Citi to support tokenized deposits across its clearinghouses.

Issuance came next. In March, the NYSE signed an [MOU with Securitize](https://ir.theice.com/press/news-details/2026/New-York-Stock-Exchange-and-Securitize-Agree-to-Memorandum-of-Understanding-to-Support-Tokenized-Securities/default.aspx) describing the firm as “**the first digital transfer agent eligible to mint blockchain-native securities for corporate or ETF issuers”** on the platform. Securitize had already [announced onchain tokenized public stocks](https://coinlaw.io/securitize-onchain-public-stocks-launch/) in December 2025. With BNY and Citi on the cash side and Securitize on issuance, Blockchain.com now gives the NYSE a consumer-facing sales channel.

The share structure matters for buyers. ICE’s January design covers tokenized shares that are fungible with traditionally issued securities. That differs from Crypto.com’s [tokenized stock derivatives](https://coinlaw.io/crypto-com-tokenized-stock-derivatives-1500-us-equities/), which give buyers price exposure without share ownership or voting rights.

The companies pinned the pitch to a Citi Institute forecast of a **$5.5 trillion** base case for tokenized assets by 2030. The MOU itself leaves several practical questions unanswered:

- **When will the NYSE digital ATS win approval and open for trading?**
- **Which of Blockchain.com’s jurisdictions would get access to the tokenized shares?**
- **Would Blockchain.com customers fund purchases with stablecoins, as ICE’s platform design allows?**
- **Will the MOU turn into a definitive agreement, and on what terms?**

The next gate is regulatory. The **NYSE digital ATS** needs approval before any Blockchain.com customer can trade on it, and neither company has published a timetable for that decision.
