A bitcoin-accepting company probed by Spanish tax authority

La Agencia Tributaria Española – Spanish tax authority – has requested information regarding cryptocurrency payments from at least one bitcoin-friendly business in the country.

Such request was received by Abanlex – a law firm from Madrid which accepts bitcoin as payment. The agency wanted to know whether the firm accepts bitcoins and the volume of those transactions as well as specific information about the exchange of bitcoin into euro and vice-versa. According to the agency’s spokesman, the goal of the request was to determine whether it bitcoins could be used in an illegal manner.

In its repose, the firm stated that its yet to receive any payments in Bitcoin.
